Triethanolamine, or tri (hydroxyethyl) amine, can be regarded as a three-hydroxy substituted substance of triethylamine. 　Similar to other amines, because of the existence of solitary electrons on the nitrogen atom, triethanolamine is weakly alkaline and can react with inorganic acids or organic acids to produce salt.
